Jessica Therouxs passion lies in building community and health by gathering people around the kitchen table. Jessicas work is informed by both her culinary and artistic backgrounds. She completed a year-long professional photographers residency at the Maine Photographic Workshops, and earned a BA degree in Visual Arts from Brown University. Jessica received her culinary degree from The Natural Gourmet in June 2001.
She began her career by developing a thorough knowledge of health-supportive cooking styles at renowned centers such as the The Chopra Center and The Kushi Institute. Upon graduating from Brown University in 2003, Jessica was awarded the Arnold Fellowship to spend a year in Italy documenting culinary traditions through film and photography. She spent that year recording the stories and cooking of elderly women in nine of Italys regions.
Jessica moved to California in 2005, when she was nominated by Alice Waters of Chez Panisse, for a year-long culinary fellowship at the Montalvo Arts Center. She is now the Culinary Curator at the Montalvo Arts Center, and a freelance chef at Boulettes Larder.
